5 Most Exciting Fan Theories about Good Omens' S2 Opening Sequence
We've had to wait four years for season 2, but the new title sequence just proves it was all worth it!
Good Omens ' season 1 dutifully followed the events of the book, and surprises for the fans were few and far between (though not non-existent).
Season 2 will take us into exciting uncharted territory, which means that it's time to start guessing what awaits us ahead!
Good Omens' season 2 title opening sequence has just dropped, and what do fans do? Immediately begin looking for Easter eggs and other clues, of course.
Judging by the ones they have found, we are in for a spectacular season. Here are the five best clues and hints in the opening sequence.
1. Beelzebub Gets It?
Anna Maxwell Martin portrayed the leader of the forces down below in season 1, but Bridgerton 's Shelley Conn will be taking over in the upcoming season.
In the sequence, this change is nicely addressed with an inscription on one of the graves that reads, "Here lies the former shell of Beelzebub." We wonder how the show will explain the actor change.
Maybe Satan punishes Beelzebub for failing to see Armageddon through by destroying the body?
2. Love Is in the Air
One of the promo posters showing Aziraphale and Crowley's wings forming a heart has had us more excited than ever for season 2.
Now there are a lot more love references in the form of heart-shaped raindrops in the opening sequence, and fans are going ballistic.
Does that mean we will finally get the Ineffable Husbands' love story going further? It certainly seems so!
3. Aliens Are Coming
Whoever made the credits sequence probably thought, "The more movie nods, the better." Ladies of Camelot makes a cameo appearance, soon followed by The Arrival, and both can be linked to the aliens involved in season 2.
The first movie might be a reference to the popular conspiracy theory that JFK was assassinated because he wanted to tell the world about UFOs, while the second is literally a movie about communicating with aliens. Juicy!
4. The '40s Are Back
Throughout the sequence, WWII seems to be a topic that just pops up everywhere – more specifically, the posters for Stairway to Heaven and Wings for Victory are spotted.
In the first movie, a divine messenger plays an important part as well.
Could this be related to the angel with amnesia storyline that's supposed to happen in season 2? Will the angels bring back the 1940s or something? So many questions.
5. It All Connects to Jane Austen
We've known for a while that season 2 would somehow pay homage to one of the greatest British writers of all time, and the production footage we've seen has only proven her significance to the plot.
Now the Easter egg with her grave in the credits sequence has us wondering how Austen will drive the plot. Was she another witch, and do her novels hold the key to fixing the mess? Maybe!
Good Omens' season 2 comes out in July, and we'll see which of the fan theories stand the test of time.
