Good Omens is full of Easter eggs and subtle details for the most hardcore of fans.

If you haven’t read the original Good Omens book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, some scenes in the Prime Video series may not make much sense to you.

Here are five things in the show that are confusing to people unfamiliar with the source material.

5. Elvis ’ Unexpected Cameo

You might have spotted Elvis making a brief appearance as the guy standing behind the counter in season 1. What is he doing there though? Actually, this scene is a subtle nod to a popular rumor explored in the book. Apparently, one tabloid ran a story about someone seeing Elvis working at a Burger Lord in Des Moines. In the book, Famine pays a visit to the establishment and wants to fire the employee for singing Love Me Tender while cooking.

4. The Queen Obsession

Crowley seems to be a big fan of the band Queen – how else would you explain the fact that almost all the major scenes (especially, the ones taking place in the Bentley) are accompanied by one of their songs? The book actually provides an answer: any tape that is left in the car for more than two weeks automatically becomes a Best of Queen album. Crowley might not love the band that much, but he literally has no choice but to enjoy their music.

3. The Reason for the J

At one point, Crowley adds a J to his name for no apparent reason, even stating that the letter does not stand for anything and that he just wants to set himself apart. The book elaborates on the backstory behind the J: Crowley wishes to distinguish himself from one person in particular, another A. Crowley – Aleister Crowley, the famous occultist. Someone could totally mix them up – after all, a demon and an occultist do work in close quarters.

2. Crowley’s Plabusement

In the show, Crowley is rather strict with his plants. He scolds them and is generally not very nice to them. Only the book fans know that Crowley actually loves his plants, which is why he berates them so much. Like any parent, Crowley wants his plant babies to be the healthiest and happiest that they can be, but he mistakenly believes that fear is the best way to accomplish that.

1. Crowley’s Fangirling

Angels and demons do not bother to learn much about human life, but Crowley is the exception to the rule. He frequently makes references to movies and television throughout the show, and that is largely due to his insane love of human pop culture. However, that is only explained in the book! Crowley even says that one of the few things people have done well is make all those movies he enjoys, especially in the action film genre.

We bet you did not know all of these!
