There have been devastating failures even in the career of the Matrix star.

Keanu Reeves has been a fan favorite for decades. The Matrix, John Wick, Bill & Ted – each of these movies has become a hit.

Many people believe that any movie with Keanu in it is destined to become successful. Turns out this is far from true.

5. Man of Tai Chi – $4,4M

The movie was Reeves' directorial debut and meant to showcase his versatile skills. It was released in 2013, but did not have the expected success and big box office.

According to the story, Chen Lin Hu is a martial arts master. The owner of an underground fight club tries to recruit him, promising a generous reward. Lin Hu understands that fighting for money is unworthy, but really needs to improve his financial situation.

4. The Private Lives of Pippa Lee – $2,7M

The brilliant cast, which included Julianne Moore, Blake Lively, Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves himself, did not bring the movie the expected success. Due to its unpopularity, many Revees’ fans are not even aware of the film's existence.

Pippa Lee is a caring mother, a cheerful and interesting woman, who is married to a man with whom she is happy. But when she moves from New York to Connecticut, Pippa's past – her dark memories and secrets – suddenly begin to surface.

3. Henry’s Crime – $2,1M

The movie was released in 2010 starring such great actors as James Caan, Vera Farmiga, Judy Greer and Keanu Reeves. Unfortunately, it became one of the most disastrous in the career of the Hollywood actor – of the $12 million invested in its creation, only $2,1M returned.

According to the plot, Henry sits in his roadside booth, collecting tolls from passersby. But one day, a shady friend asked to wait for him on the porch of the main bank in Buffalo. The result was three years in prison on a false charge of robbery. But time passed, and Henry returned to take his revenge.

2. The Bad Batch – $201,000

Jim Carrey, Jason Momoa and Giovanni Ribisi joined Reeves on the set of this black comedy. Despite such a strong cast, the movie turned out to be a complete failure, collecting only $201,000.

A futuristic dystopia unfolds in the territory, where all people who are considered undesirable by society are banished to the Texas desert, fenced off from civilization.

Arlen, a young woman, is captured by a group of cannibals upon her arrival in the wilderness, and the newcomer faces a bleak prospect – fight for life at any cost or be slowly eaten.

1. The Last Time I Committed Suicide – $46,000

The biggest disappointment of Reeves' career was this 1997 movie, where the actor played one of the five main characters. Of the $4 million spent on filming, the movie made only $46,000.

But this failure was only a small test for Keanu, because soon he starred in the legendary The Matrix.

The movie shows a part of the life of the legendary Neal Cassady, whose personality served as a prototype for the characters of many books.
