5 Harry Potter Characters That Will Be Near-Impossible to Recast for HBO Series
These actors nailed their roles in Harry Potter so perfectly that they simply can't be recast.
They will be, of course, but no one will ever be happy with the new versions!
One of the most disturbing aspects of the upcoming HBO Harry Potter reboot is the inevitable recasting of all characters.
There's no way around it, unfortunately, and while some of the characters might actually get a more fitting and close-to-the-books cast, these five actors are virtually irreplaceable: they're just way too perfect!
5. The Weasley Twins
Despite not having quite enough screen time, James and Oliver Phelps absolutely nailed the vibes of Hogwarts' biggest pranksters.
Dred and Forge came to life thanks to the brothers, and while we can see other Weasleys replaced (kind of, not really, let's move on), we can't imagine anyone else portraying the Twins quite as well.
4. Rubeus Hagrid
Even though Robbie Coltrane was a really short man, he gave us the most wholesome and friendly half-giant the world has ever seen.
It's impossible to not imagine Coltrane's kind face when reading through scenes with Hagrid in the books. After the actor's passing in 2022, it will be painful to see someone else play the part.
3. Severus Snape
While Severus Snape from the original movies was way older than he was supposed to be, Alan Rickman portrayed him in such a phenomenal fashion that you truly can't care less about the age inconsistency.
When someone else puts on the potions master's robes, it will feel like a betrayal, especially since Riickman's passing in 2016.

2. Bellatrix Lestrange
Helena Bonham Carter is thankfully alive and gorgeous, thank you very much, but we can't think of any other actress who'd breathe so much style and poison into Bellatrix Lestrange.
Helena turned the insane witch into the most beautiful and captivating antagonist of the series, and there won't be a second chance at this.

1. Minerva McGonagall
The world doesn't have another Maggie Smith, and the one and only will not return to play Professor McGonagall again.
The Head of Gryffindor was virtually written for her, and Maggie Smith made the impossible by making the already fan-favorite character even more beloved than she already was.
This is probably the biggest bummer for HBO's reboot: it will never have the perfect and ultimate McGonagall.
