Being the main character doesn’t make you flawless.

With the sudden announcement of Ellen Pompeo's departure from Grey's Anatomy, the majority of fans were confused as to how the show would continue without the titular character. The truth is, while some were clinging to the past, others saw this coming a long time ago and embraced the change with excitement.

After all, Meredith Grey hasn't always been all that great. As the main character of the show, and for the people within the show's universe as well.

Here are the top 5 moments that will make it much easier for you to let Meredith Grey go and enjoy Grey's Anatomy season 20 for what it is:

Derek’s Alzheimer’s Trial

Maybe Derek's mother was right when she said he needed someone who didn't see the world in black and white, but "it's complicated" is not an excuse for screwing up the lives of hundreds of patients. Worst of all, Meredith refused to take any responsibility for it.

Making Lexie Take Out The Tumor

Being older and more experienced than Lexie, Meredith should've known better than to touch the brain tumor, especially without the patient's consent. The decision Lexie made cost her patient the loss of any ability to communicate, a heartbreaking outcome that could've been avoided.

DeLuca vs Alex

It's perfectly fine to take your best friend's side in a conflict, but it's far from fine to threaten someone and prevent them from getting justice when they've literally been beaten up. Meredith clearly had her priorities set on helping Alex avoid accountability for his actions instead of listening to the victim.

Insurance Fraud

For many viewers, this was the silliest moment of the entire show, as no one would ever believe that Meredith would be stupid enough to do this right in her own workplace. Of course, she was driven by good intentions, but the execution was so bad that she completely deserved to have her license taken away.

Derek’s Death

Not telling the family that their son, their brother, and their uncle was on the verge of death was downright cruel on Meredith's part. He may not have been too close to most of them, but they were his family and they had every right to know about the accident immediately, not hours later when he was already gone.
