5 Co-Stars Who Hated Each Other's Guts On Set

Despite what some people may think, in many ways acting is a job like many others, and it can be quite tough and sometimes even lead to certain tensions between "co-workers."

Some actors who didn't really get along with their co-stars kept things professional without disrupting the production process, while others created loud dramas that made a big splash in the media.

With that in mind, let's take a look at five co-stars, both in movies and TV shows, who absolutely hated each other.

Marlon Brando and Dennis Hopper

Despite being an immensely talented actor, Marlon Brando was notoriously difficult to work with, as geniuses sometimes are, which led to many on-set feuds with his co-stars.

But Francis Ford Coppola's iconic 1979 war film Apocalypse Now, in which Brando portrayed Colonel Walter Kurtz, manages to stand out from other films the actor starred in because of how disastrous its production was.

Not only did Brando at one point have a conflict with the director that almost resulted in him being fired from his role, but he also nearly got into a fistfight with another actor, Dennis Hopper, to the point that the two never appeared on the set at the same time.

Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson

In another case of two actors failing to handle their personal differences in a professional manner, the conflict between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson during the production of 2017's The Fate of the Furious also resulted in them refusing to film scenes together.

Both actors couldn't keep their egos in check, so the scenes in which their characters, Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs, appeared together were created in post-production.

However, although the feud had been going on for some time, it now seems to have come to an end, as after a six-year hiatus (not including the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off), Johnson returned to the franchise, appearing in the mid-credits scene of 2023's Fast X.

Chevy Chase and the rest of the Community cast

Although Chevy Chase has been an integral part of Community since its debut season, portraying the arrogant Pierce Hawthorne, the actor doesn't seem to have enjoyed the experience in the slightest.

Not only did he frequently clash with his co-stars and the show's creator, Dan Harmon, which led to his departure from the show after its fifth season, but he also recently mentioned that he felt better alone than around "those people," referring to the rest of the cast.

Jason Momoa and Amber Heard

While 2018's Aquaman managed to become the most successful DCU film in the franchise's history, even surpassing Batman v Superman, and was well-received by fans, an article from Variety shed light on the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding the film.

It seems that Jason Momoa, who portrayed the titular superhero, wasn't too fond of Amber Heard, who played Mera, his on-screen love interest, and called for her to be fired from the role.

While the DC spokesperson denied this, it reportedly led to Heard's role being reduced in the upcoming sequel, so we may see if these claims were true when it hits theaters on December 22, 2023.

Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder

Another celebrity feud tied to Francis Ford Coppola's film on our list, although it's hardly the filmmaker's fault, as no one can seem to say for sure why Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder couldn't stand each other during the making of 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Coppola himself said that the two "got along, and then one day they didn't," while Ryder couldn't pinpoint the root of the problem either, vaguely mentioning that perhaps it was Oldman's acting that made her feel in danger.
