5 Canceled TV Shows That Still Live in Fans' Heads Rent-Free
Cancel them all you want, the audience still loves these shows! Actually, they still can’t even get over the fact these shows were canceled. We’re starting to worry a bit.
5. Mindhunter ( 2017–2019)
Considering how many crime drama shows exist out there, it’s really hard to come up with something unique in this genre — but Mindhunter pulled it off.
This series followed agents from the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit who began studying serial criminals from a psychological point of view. The show was canceled after just two seasons, and fans still sign petitions for S3!
4. The OA ( 2016–2019)
Continuing with the topic of unique concepts, we have The OA — a show that explored alternate realities from an unexpected point of view. The main character, a woman who used to be blind, returns home no longer blind and calls herself “the original angel.” The series taps into philosophy, science, and religion, and when it got canceled after the second season, people were protesting in front of Netflix HQ.
3. Daredevil ( 2015–2018)
One of the most spectacular and boldest Marvel shows out there, Daredevil captivated the viewers with the story of a blind attorney fighting crime as his alter-ego, a superhero named Daredevil, while struggling with his faith and daily problems. Even though the series was canceled after Season 3, it still remains Netflix’s highest-rated and universally beloved Marvel show.
2. Sense8 (2015–2018)
Not quite a superhero show, Sense8 has its own approach to abnormal abilities: the story revolves around eight strangers from different countries who discover they share a telepathic connection with each other. Great storytelling and characters made this show an absolute fan favorite, and after it was canceled after season 2, the viewers kept rioting until they got an entire wrap-up movie.
1. Firefly ( 2002–2003)
If you’ve ever wondered what a space Western sci-fi would look like, search no further than Firefly — an incredible show that quickly earned the status of a cult classic despite being closed after the very first season. Firefly later received a spin-off movie and a bunch of novels and comics, and even years later, fans still wish for a reboot or a sequel.
