While you wait for the next season, you might want to watch something with a similar atmosphere to this acclaimed TV series.

The first season of the Silo TV series is over, and it's still a long wait until season 2 arrives, as the release date hasn't been announced yet.

But if you loved the bleak atmosphere of the Silo and the desolate outside world, you can check out these five movies that have fairly similar vibes.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

Despite being a sequel to the 1982 film, the original didn't exactly show us the world beyond the sprawling cyberpunk megapolis. 2049, however, takes the viewer outside Los Angeles more than once, showing the polluted and almost lifeless landscapes of the alternate future world in all their glory, accompanied by a slow ambient soundtrack.

Children of Men (2006)

Following an ecological catastrophe, humans have become sterile, and the film picks up 18 years after the birth of the last child. This dystopian action drama perfectly conveys the bleak and hopeless atmosphere of a world where people are simply living out their remaining years on the planet.

Oblivion (2013)

This one is a bit more action-packed than other entries on our list, but this action-adventure movie starring Tom Cruise still has a great atmosphere of a world after collapse. After humans won the war against aliens, Earth's moon was still destroyed, resulting in the destruction of most of the planet. The movie is full of slow, gorgeous shots of landscapes destroyed by the tides, with only the occasional ruin left unburied.

The Road (2009)

After an unknown force destroys almost all plant and animal life on Earth, a father and son cross the desolate land towards the ocean. It is a slow and dark story full of hopelessness and people just trying to survive.

The Martian (2015)

This movie is quite unique as it is not set on Earth and is rather upbeat and optimistic compared to others on our list. After Dr. Mark Watney is accidentally left on Mars, he must survive the inhospitable environment and find a way to return home from the Red Planet.
