The iconic series featured a wide range of colorful characters, some played by famous (or soon-to-be-famous) actors and actresses.

House, M.D. was a truly legendary medical drama that ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012 and left a massive impact on popular culture, so much so that even people who haven't actually seen the show know who the titular misanthropic doctor is.

Hugh Laurie did a masterful job portraying Dr. Gregory House, stealing every second of his screen time, but aside from him, the show featured a huge cast of colorful characters, along with surprising cameos from famous actors.

With the show coming to Hulu earlier this month, let's revisit those cameos, as some of the actors weren't even famous when they starred in the show.

James Earl Jones

The iconic voice of Darth Vader himself appeared in an equally villainous role in episode 3 of season 6, portraying Dibala, a despotic leader of an unnamed African country.

Hated by the public for his atrocities and therefore constantly paranoid that he might be assassinated, this unique patient proved to be quite a challenge for the doctors treating him, as saving his life would mean countless more innocents would suffer.

Although Dibala only appeared in one episode, he played a pivotal role in the character arc of Dr. Robert Chase, portrayed by Jesse Spencer, who ultimately had to decide the fate of this monster.

Michael B. Jordan

Before he became an international superstar with his roles in Creed and Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan portrayed Will Westwood, a blind patient in episode 14 of season 8.

Throughout the episode, Will's condition rapidly deteriorates (as it often happens on the show), leaving the poor man in utter despair, as he was already blind and was about to become completely deaf.

The episode ended on a positive and heartfelt note, however, as his girlfriend, Melissa, remained by his side and was willing to help Will adjust to his new condition.

Carmen Electra

This cameo is a bit unique, as Tara Leigh Patrick, better known as Carmen Electra, played herself and not another character in episode 21 of season 1.

While House is discussing an imaginary case with medical students, he uses the description "The Baywatch Chick" (a title given by the show's creators, not us) to hide the identity of the real patient.

Although her appearance was extremely brief, it was quite unexpected to see the star of the Baywatch TV series in such a drastically different project.

Jeremy Renner

Another once-obscure actor who went on to become a huge movie star, Jeremy Renner portrayed punk rock musician Jimmy Quidd in episode 9 of season 4.

Brought to the hospital after coughing up blood and collapsing outside a nightclub, Jimmy's reckless lifestyle of drug and alcohol abuse, which led to a variety of symptoms, makes it especially difficult for House and his team to figure out what was killing him at the time.

Moreover, true to his punk subculture, Jimmy didn't make the doctors' job any easier, causing mischief like escaping to the pediatric ward to entertain the kids.

Amanda Seyfried

In the early years of her career, Amanda Seyfried appeared in various projects, including House, M.D. in episode 11 of season 1, although not as a patient.

The actress portrayed Pam, a girlfriend of Keith Foster, who suffered from unstoppable internal bleeding after a car accident.

Despite backlash from Keith's parents because of Pam's time in rehab, she stayed by his side throughout the episode, even providing a crucial clue to the final diagnosis.
