In our hearts, young Daniel Radcliffe will forever be The Boy Who Lived — but the adult actor he became has been part of quite a few interesting projects worth exploring.

5. Kill Your Darlings (2013)

Kill Your Darlings is a biographical drama movie following the three genius poets of the Beat Generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs.

Daniel Radcliffe did a stellar job at portraying Ginsberg, proving his acting skills soon after finishing the Harry Potter series, and even though the movie did poorly at the box office, the critics loved it.

4. Jungle (2017)

Another biographical drama on this list, Jungle is based on the true story that happened to Israeli adventurer Yossi Ghinsberg. In 1981, his journey into the Amazon rainforest led to him being stranded there for three whole weeks, and Daniel Radcliffe had to film in the actual jungle where it happened. While the movie didn’t make rounds, it was a demanding experience that showed Daniel’s dedication.

3. The Woman in Black (2012)

In the public’s eye, it was The Woman in Black that first showed the world Daniel Radcliffe’s acting talents outside of the Harry Potter franchise. Here, the actor took the role of a young lawyer living in rural England whose peaceful life is (literally) haunted by a specter. Radcliffe nailed his performance in this movie and proved himself as an independent actor with this one.

2. Swiss Army Man (2016)

This surrealistic comedy-drama was never perceived as a serious movie until it was released and, after spending the first half of the movie with a raised eyebrow thanks to all the bizarre activities on the screen, viewers were not hit with the “drama” part. Daniel Radcliffe’s first outing as a reanimated corpse proved to be a unique emotional experience for the audience and characters alike.

1. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)

While Weird is a biopic, it’s also a parody movie loosely based on the life and career of famous accordionist and parody songwriter Al Yankovic. In this movie, as much of it is true as fiction, and Daniel Radcliffe really kicks it off as the lead star. In this most recent outing, Dan takes his acting to the next level, easily juggling parody and reality.
