5 Best Anime To Watch If You Already Binged Scott Pilgrim Takes Off
Only the wildest and funniest.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a bold, memorable and entertaining show that will appeal to fans of Brian Lee O'Malley's comic books and Edgar Wright's film. This project combines the beloved and familiar with the unexpected and new, giving this story a new lease on life.
If you've already seen all eight episodes of Scott Pilgrim and want more, these five anime titles are for you.
1. Kill la Kill
Ryuko got into Honnouji Academy in search of her father's killer. The academy is ruled by a student council led by Satsuki, who gave her friends a school uniform made from Life Fibers. Woven from the threads of life, it gives its wearer special abilities. Now Ryuko, with new super clothes and a weapon in the form of half a giant scissors, must find out the truth about her father's death.
A bright, stylish and crazy action anime about an unusual school has long since become a classic that many fans know and love. They share with Scott Pilgrim a fighting spirit and a disregard for the ordinary: each character has unparalleled charisma and unique features.
2. Devilman: Crybaby
Akira learns from his friend Ryo that demons will soon rise up and take over the world, destroying all of humanity. Since humans have no chance against the hordes of demons with supernatural powers, Ryo invites Akira to merge with one of them. As a result, the Akira becomes Devilman – a creature with the strength of a demon and the heart of a man.
Devilman breaks many conventional rules, thanks to both manga writer Go Nagai and director Masaaki Yuasa, who brings incredible expressiveness to the animation. The result is a bright, stylish and crazy show that does not shy away from taboo subjects or excessive violence.
3. Magical Destroyers
The mysterious organization SSC took power into their hands and outlawed all hobbies. Of course, not everyone liked this, and resistance quickly arose under the leadership of the self-proclaimed Otaku Hero, aided by three magical girls: Blue, Pink and Anarchy. Their goal is simple and noble: to restore the world's right to be passionate about what they want and not be afraid for their lives.
Contrary to the usual, the anime is not based on a manga or a novel, but on a series of art by Jun Inagawa, who came up with a strange world in which anime has no place. The idea turned out to be so fascinating that it served as the basis for a show that can be called one of the main titles of 2023.
4. Mob Psycho 100
Mob is a quiet high school student who has trouble making friends and shows little emotion. He is also an incredibly powerful psychic, but rarely uses his abilities. Mob works for Reigen, a self-proclaimed exorcist who is a first-rate con man.
Mob Psycho 100 is the brainchild of One, the author of the equally crazy One Punch Man. One Punch Man and Mob are somewhat similar, except that the latter is not physically strong, but mentally.
5. FLCL
Naota is a teenager living an ordinary life with nothing happening in it. He goes to school and helps his father with his work. Everything changes with the arrival of Haruko: first the girl knocks him down on a Vespa, thanks to which robots start coming out of his head. And then she starts living with him under the same roof and settles down in his father's noodle shop.
Over the course of six episodes, the anime not only manages to switch genres several times, but also parodies everything from anime to French comedies while telling a compelling coming-of-age story.
