4 Game of Thrones Characters Who Never Deserved This Much Hate

Game of Thrones continues to be popular even after its finale (which upset many fans.) And there is a clear explanation for this – the directors and screenwriters paid attention to each character and forced them to make unexpected decisions.

In Game of Thrones, even those characters who are generally considered villains deserve understanding and even sympathy.

1. Cersei Lannister

The Queen of the Seven Kingdoms consistently ranks high on lists of the most hated Game of Thrones villains. She has been merciless and cruel, devaluing the lives of everyone not related to her by blood. But when you think about it, what made her do that?

The answer is obvious – Cersei loved her children madly, especially her villainous son Joffrey, who was never destined to be a great king. Her power and anger grew stronger with each loss. It is impossible to ignore the fact that Cersei is not only a skilled manipulator, but also a brave, intelligent, and far-sighted ruler.

2. Lysa Arryn

Almost from the first minute of her appearance on Game of Thrones, Lady Regent of the Vale has inspired extraordinary irritation and hatred in viewers. But her madness didn’t come out of nowhere.

Lysa was married to someone she didn't love, while her whole life she worshiped Petyr Baelish, who used her for his own purposes, manipulated her, and finally pushed the poor woman into a hole in the ground.

3. Theon Greyjoy

Theon Greyjoy's story has been a roller coaster. He was a loyal brother to Robb and other Starks until he wasn’t. His betrayal destroyed any trust in him and made Theon instantly hateable in the eyes of the audience.

In the end, however, he manages to right his wrongs and prove that his brotherly bond is still strong – he even sacrificed himself to protect Bran.

4. Sansa Stark

Sansa is one of those characters that fans disagree about, forming two camps. The members of the first and biggest one claim she is an absolutely boring character who does nothing to develop herself.

Those in the second camp, however, believe that Sansa is an excellent character whose development is truly inspiring. She is incredibly smart and actually waited for the right moment to achieve her goals. The fact that she went from a naive young girl to a wise and understanding Queen of the North adds a few more points to her evolution.
