As these storylines prove, justice is not always achieved through legal and humane means.

Restoring justice or putting the bad guys in their place – the reasons for revenge can be as varied as the ways of taking it. Some want to shame the perpetrators, while others believe in an eye for an eye principle.

One thing is for sure – the viewers may have gotten too much satisfaction from seeing these villains get what they deserved.

1. Arya Stark's revenge for the Red Wedding – Game of Thrones

The murder of the Freys by Arya Stark takes place in two episodes of Game of Thrones: in the final, tenth episode of the sixth season, Arya kills first Lothar and Black Walder, and then Walder Frey himself, taking the form of a servant and slitting his throat.

In the first episode of the seventh season, she takes the form of Walder Frey and kills the rest of the family and their servants by poisoning them. This is revenge for what happened to the Starks at the Red Wedding.

And we have to admit, although it was a brutal massacre, the deaths of the Starks murderers were very pleasant (perhaps too much so).

2. Tony killing Ralph – The Sopranos

The scene in which Ralph Cifaretto beats his girlfriend Tracee to death remains one of the show's most controversial and poignant moments.

The incident also reinvents the image of Tony, who decides to deviate from Mafia protocol and ends up beating Ralph himself.

This episode not only showed Tony's changing values, but also became the last in the storyline of Tracee, a minor character who nevertheless managed to become one of the favorites for fans.

3. Dexter helps Lumen find those responsible for her kidnapping – Dexter

After tracking down and killing a serial killer, Dexter discovers another victim in his lair – the woman he held captive, Lumen Pierce.

A witness to Dexter's act of justice not only doesn’t report what she saw to the police, but also invites Dexter to join her in searching for the rest of the sinister gang of rapists who kidnapped her.

As a result, Dexter and Lumen become lovers, but break up after the couple kills the last person responsible for Lumen's kidnapping.

4. Sansa takes revenge on Ramsay for humiliating and tormenting her – Game of Thrones

To be honest, everyone was waiting for the death of this bad guy. In the sixth episode of the fifth season, Ramsay Bolton marries Sansa Stark and brutally rapes her on their wedding night, forcing Theon Greyjoy to watch.

Ramsay, the illegitimate son of Lord Roose Bolton, is one of the most brutal characters in the series. In 2016, the New York Times named Bolton the most hated character onTV, based on the results of an audience poll.

Ramsay died in the ninth episode of the sixth season. The villain was fed to his own dogs by Sansa Stark after losing the Battle of Winterfell to Jon Snow.
