4 Actors Who Were Pissed Off By Their South Park Portrayal
The famous animated series South Park often portrays various Hollywood celebrities, and usually they are not shown in their best light.
Some of the stars just laugh at it, but others take the completely unflattering depiction as an insult (and understandably so).
Barbra Streisand
In one of the episodes of the first season, the singer Barbara Streisand was shown tormenting the main characters with her singing.
Streisand herself, after watching this episode, spoke out in a sharply negative way about it, saying that this cartoon series negatively affects young people.
The creators did not like Barbra's reaction, so they decided not to leave her alone. In other episodes, her name was only used in a negative way.
In the Halloween episode, she was shown as a monster and in the feature-length animated movie South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut the words "Barbra Streisand" were considered obscene.
Tom Cruise
In one of the episodes, actor Tom Cruise comes to see one of the main characters, Stan.
For some reason, he believes that Stan is the reincarnation of the founder of Scientology, Ron Hubbard.
When Stan says that he likes Leonardo DiCaprio better, Cruise cries and locks himself in the closet, after which Stan tells him to get out of it.
Upon seeing this episode, Tom Cruise was offended and demanded that this episode be taken off the air.
Isaac Hayes
Actor Isaac Hayes voiced the Chef in the animated series.
But after watching the aforementioned episode about Tom Cruise, he was also seriously offended by the creators, as he himself was a Scientologist and did not want his religion to be insulted.
It hurt his feelings so much that he just quit the show.
The creators didn't really care about his feelings and just killed the character, the Chef, with particular cruelty. And it was a clear indication that he would not return to the show.
Steve Irwin
Naturalist and wildlife expert Steve Irwin could not have been offended by the series because he passed away. Irwin died tragically when an electric stingray struck him in the heart.
Although, one of the episodes of South Park featured a costumed Devil's Party in Hell where one of the guests was Steve Irwin with a stingray in his chest.
When Steve's wife found out about it, she was really upset because her husband had just died and someone was already making fun of his death.
