Let's face it: the Harry Potter movies have always shied away from using Ron in any capacity other than comic relief. The final films, however, were an exception.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was the movie that finally decided to showcase Ron's abilities as a useful part of the Golden Trio, not just someone there to make jokes or be awkward. After his dramatic arc in the first Deathly Hallows, Ron finally got his chance to shine in Part 2.

Here are the three times he took advantage of that opportunity.

Chamber of Secrets

When the trio had to give Godric Gryffindor's sword to Griphook, they were left without anything remotely capable of destroying the Horcruxes. This could have made their perilous journey to Hogwarts pointless, if it weren't for Ron, who remembered just in time that the basilisk's fangs were just as good a weapon against Horcruxes as the sword. Brilliant, as Hermione noted.

Room of Requirement

The more dangerous the situation became, the smarter Ron acted. He was the one who realized that Harry was in the Room of Requirement when his name suddenly disappeared from the Marauder's Map, although Hermione could have had the same idea when she looked at the map.

Well, let's just say she was too stunned by Ron's kiss.

Broomsticks & Fire

Later in the Room of Requirement, when the trio has to face Draco Malfoy and his minions, who can't handle the dark magic they just learned, it's Ron who saves the day again. When the entire room is engulfed in magical fire, he realizes that they could use broomsticks (which happen to be conveniently stored nearby) to get out.

Ron also realizes that there is no need for the destroyed tiara to just lie there when someone could kick it right into the deadly magical fire — you know, just to be safe.
