Now that’s who really needed Dolores Umbridge as a teacher…

Harry Potter suffered a lot during the 7 parts of the saga named after him. However, he had a lot of friends who helped him until the final victory.

But what makes it really sad is that even these friends sometimes betrayed him. Not always in a terrible way, but sometimes with the use of certain words.

One of those friends was Dumbledore. Well, this is definitely the person who, despite helping Harry a lot, also lied to him several times. Let's take a look at the times when his lies made Harry Potter's life so much harder.

1. How many Horcruxes there are

When Harry first saw Horace Slughorn's memory in Half-Prince, Harry assumed that Voldemort had intended to create seven Horcruxes.

However, Dumbledore told Harry that they were searching for six Horcruxes, and that the seventh soul piece would be the one in Voldemort 's body. However, this wasn't entirely true, and Dumbledore knew it.

2. Parseltongue mystery

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dumbledore told Harry that Voldemort had mistakenly given some of his powers to his unsuccessful victim. This happened when the boy asked about the fact that he could understand parseltongue.

After finding Tom Riddle's diary and learning that he had some of the same powers as Voldemort.

Well, the explanation Dumbledore gave Harry was technically true, but it was such a vast understatement that it could later be seen as a deception. Which, if we think about it, leads us straight into Lie #3…

3. After all this time

"So, the boy... must die?" was the question Dumbledore was asked by Severus Snape. And the headmaster didn't know any better than to confirm it by adding that Harry must die at the hands of Voldemort.

Well, this is not really lying to Harry, but the intention was that Harry would find out from Snape that he should sacrifice his life to the Dark Lord.

Obviously, Dumbledore knew very well that he was raising Harry just to have him killed at some point, and even Snape, who was never truly a fan of The Chosen One, was visibly shocked by the headmaster’s audacity.
