3 Reasons Why Most Hated Bridgerton Character Is Actually One of the Best

Young Miss Sharma is the diamond of the season, and she is initially supposed to become Viscountess Bridgerton. Edwina is also one of the most hated characters on the show, and it's completely and totally unfair.

Here are three reasons why she doesn't deserve such treatment.

1. Edwina Is Young

Apparently, people can forgive Anthony and Kate for acting dumb because they can't handle feeling things for each other, even though they are 30 and 26 years of age, respectively.

Yet fans are not willing to extend the same courtesy to Edwina, who is barely an adult. The girl is 18 years old – of course, she is irrational and immature. Do you remember yourself at that age? Exactly.

2. Edwina Is Brainwashed

Maybe "brainwashed" is too strong a word, but that's basically the gist of it. Edwina has been raised by her mother and sister to be the perfect wife for a high-society gentleman.

This is exactly what she was trying to be all season with her attempts at winning Anthony's heart despite Kate's warnings. She literally did all she could to make sure that her family survived, and that's the whole point.

3. Edwina Is Hurt

People are going hard on Edwina for throwing a tantrum when she has finally realized that Anthony and Kate are in love. We mean… it was her wedding day for Pete's sake!

She had every right to be mad at her sister for ruining it for her. Sure, they are head over heels for each other and can't help it, but that doesn't invalidate Edwina's feelings.

She was playing by high society's rules and still lost. Of course, she is pissed!

You may not like Edwina, but no one can deny that she is a strong, well-written character whose motivations and actions make sense and can be admired.

If Anthony and Kate hadn't fallen for each other, Edwina would have made a perfect match for Viscount Bridgerton.

Although we are happy that things worked out the way they did – now there are so many possibilities for season 3!
