3 Reasons Queen Charlotte Is Better Than Bridgerton (So Far)
The highly anticipated Bridgerton spinoff has finally hit the screen today, and it is everything we hoped it would be and more!
All six episodes of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story have premiered on Netflix, and it is safe to say that the show has lived up to its predecessor's potential and maybe even exceeded it a bit.
Fans believe that the series' first season (hopefully, it will not be the last) is already better than Bridgerton, and we have to agree with them for three important reasons.
#1 Queen Charlotte Is Straight to the Point
While we all love Bridgerton's broad ensemble and the shifting perspectives it provides, Queen Charlotte has the potential to become a more focused story as the title suggests.
Over the course of six episodes, we have had the chance to see young Queen Charlotte navigate her marriage to King George, with all the joys and obstacles along the way.
Although, that is not to say that the supporting characters do not have any development or storylines of their own – they very much do, but it doesn't distract us from the main plot.
#2 Queen Charlotte Takes the Best of Both Worlds
Season 1 of Bridgerton gained popularity largely due to its revealing sex scenes and its unique setting with the racially integrated English aristocracy.
Once the show got us all hooked, they dialed back the nudity and gave way to romance in season 2 (and it was the right move).
Queen Charlotte combines the most captivating elements from both seasons and does it so beautifully that we don't even question it!
Plus, all six episodes are written by the original Bridgerton showrunner Shonda Rhimes, and it shows.
#3 Queen Charlotte Is the Ultimate Prequel
Prequels are always burdened with their characters' future fates, which have already been established. Queen Charlotte is no different, but instead of sulking about it, the creators made sure to take advantage of it.
We know all about Queen Charlotte and King George's future in Bridgerton, but India Amarteifio and Corey Mylchreest's portrayal of younger versions of their respective characters and their chemistry is what really makes the show stand out.
It is not about the tiresome "will they, won't they" dynamic, but more about how the couple manages to get through all the hardships that are bound to come.
Queen Charlotte is so good that we're going for a second binge-watch right now! Who is with us?
