If you think you live in a soap opera, think again.

When things get too tough in real life, we all have a tendency to turn to fiction for comfort or just to distract ourselves. Sometimes, however, it feels like fiction can invade our own lives and make them seem like one big soap opera. More often than not, such drama comes from within the family.

If you think you're going crazy and things are getting too much in your personal life, don't worry. You're probably still nowhere near General Hospital 's level of insanity.

Here are 3 General Hospital family storylines that will make you very glad that your reality is very different from what you see on TV.

Lucas, Georgie, and Maxie Jones

This love triangle could’ve been much more appealing to the fans if all three of the characters weren’t part of the same family. No matter whether adopted or not, Lucas finding himself having a crush on Maxie, while Georgie developed romantic feelings for him, was very icky to watch.

It’s not surprising that neither of the pairings really stuck with the viewers. Although technically there wasn’t anything illegal about them, that’s not the type of cousinly love one would want to observe.

Who would you choose: Georgie or Maxie?

Heather and Steven Webber

If you believe that the only bond that is so strong that nothing, not even the soap, could ever ruin it, is the bond between the mother and her child, then General Hospital is ready to prove you wrong. For Heather Webber, there were no boundaries from the very beginning.

Just like she was okay with having a romantic relationship with a married man, it was also okay for her to sell her own child from the said man for $10,000 behind his back. What’s even worse, she ends up stabbing him years later.

Helena and Irina Cassadine

There are a lot of things that you would expect from a villain in a soap opera, but murdering their own child is certainly not one of them, no matter how badly they mess things up. Helena was setting her daughter up for not being able to control her feelings and falling in love with Ethan Lovett.

This instance revealed Helena Cassadine to be one of the, if not the most, cold-blooded criminals on the show with no soft spot to target.
