The 2000s saw the rise of many stars, and fame quickly went to their heads. Sadly, not all of them were able to cope with it.

Here are three 2000s celebrities who cleaned up their act and three who sadly didn't.

On the Rails: Lindsay Lohan

Child star turned teenage IT girl, Lindsay peaked in the early 2000s. The Parent Trap star became world-famous at the age of 10, and it was too much for her to handle. Lohan's years of drug abuse and legal troubles caught up with her by 2007.

Then the 2020s came, and the actress seemed to have turned her life around. She is now married to financier Bader Shammas, and the couple is currently expecting their first child together.

In 2021, Lohan made a comeback to acting with the Netflix romcom Falling for Christmas, and she's signed on for two more movies to be released next year.

Off the Rails: Amanda Bynes

Bynes was arguably as famous as Lohan in the 2000s, and she faced pretty much the same problems.

After starring in What I Like About You, Sydney White, and She's the Man, Amanda was well on her way to becoming every teenager's idol.

In 2010, she starred in Easy A and decided to take a break from acting. In 2013, her addiction and arrests landed her in a nine-year conservatorship.

In 2014, Bynes was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with her latest psychotic episode happening this year. Hopefully, she will recover soon!

On the Rails: Britney Spears

The Princess of Pop had to grow up in front of the cameras, and her personal life was the subject of every and any tabloid in the 1990s and 2000s. It soon took its toll on Britney.

In 2007, her infamous head-shaving breakdown took place, and a year later, her 13-year conservatorship began. Since she was freed in 2021, Spears has blossomed.

In 2022, she married her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari. Though things are still tough with her family, Britney is doing so much better.

Off the Rails: Shia LaBeouf

The Transformers star has had his fair share of controversy over the years. LaBeouf has been repeatedly accused of plagiarism in several of his projects, including Howard Cantour.com and Daniel Boring.

The actor has struggled with alcoholism for years. He has also been arrested quite a few times for disorderly conduct, obstruction, and misdemeanor battery.

In 2020, LaBeouf's ex-girlfriends, FKA Twigs and Karolyn Pho sued him for sexual battery and assault.

On the Rails: Macaulay Culkin

Home Alone made Culkin famous… and led him to make some questionable life choices. The actor had an abusive father and a life exposed to media worldwide. In 2004, he became addicted to drugs and was arrested for possession.

Fast-forward about a decade: Macaulay has regained control of his life. Since 2018, he has been dating Brenda Song, and they have two children together.

Culkin is still acting – his most notable recent role was Mickey in 2021's American Horror Story: Double Feature.

Off the Rails: Jake Lloyd

The Force is certainly not with Lloyd as his 1999's appearance in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace made life in Hollywood unbearable for the young actor. Bullied by the press and the fans, Jake quit acting altogether soon after.

He dropped out of college after one semester. In 2015, Lloyd allegedly assaulted his mother and got arrested for reckless driving. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and has been leading a quiet life since 2020.

These stars are a striking example of what Hollywood can do to you. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they all get better.
