3 Best and 3 Worst Episodes Of American Horror Story
The most popular anthology horror series on television has had its fair share of ups and downs over the years.
Created in 2011 by the iconic duo of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story has become a cultural phenomenon in its own right. Known for its anthology format and compelling storytelling, the series has delivered numerous chilling and memorable episodes throughout the decade.
While some of the episodes have left viewers on the edge of their seats, others have missed out on the soul of the show. Here are the 3 best and 3 worst episodes of your favorite show.
Best: Pilot (Season 1, Episode 1)
The pilot episode of American Horror Story set the stage for the show's dark and twisted tales and introduced viewers to the cast that would go on to become one of the most beloved of all time. Introducing us to the Harmon family and their haunted home, this episode established the show's eerie atmosphere and kick started the stories of a variety of intriguing characters.
Worst: Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag (Season 7, Episode 7)
The seventh episode of season seven explores the story of Lena Dunham's Valerie Solanas and her radical feminist manifesto, but while it has a promising storyline, the disjointed narrative and lack of compelling character development make it one of the weaker entries in the series.
Best: Name Game (Season 2, Episode 10)
While the entire season of Asylum is powerful, the top spot goes to the episode Name Game, which features a mesmerizing dance sequence with Jessica Lange. After all these years, the song and the cast's memorable dances still come out of nowhere and pop into our heads from time to time.
Worst: Checking In (Season 5, Episode 1)
The weakest season of the American Horror Story universe, Hotel kicks off with an uneven storyline and a controversial premiere episode that features a graphic rape scene. Despite Lady Gaga 's cheesy performance, the entire season fails to live up to its potential and strays from the show's guilty pleasure appeal.
Best: Return to Murder House (Season 8, Episode 6)
A breath of fresh air for fans of the show was the crossover episode between the first and eighth seasons of American Horror Story. The episode serves as a satisfying treat of nostalgia for longtime fans, with reunions of characters from previous episodes, unexpected plot twists, and returning to the haunted house that was the beginning of everything.
Worst: Chapter 10 (Season 6, Episode 10)
For 9 episodes straight Roanoke delivered a chilling story and amazing performances from its diverse cast. However, the last episode of the season really screwed things up for us. Though we get a chance to see Sarah Paulson as beloved journalist Lana Winters from Season 2, the ideal picture gets blurred after another annoying disappearance of Flora.
