3 Animated TV Shows That Deserve a Live-Action Adaptation
These animated treasures should get the live-action treatment
We all have our list of animated TV shows we'd love to see get a live-action adaptation. And no, we are not talking about a SpongeBob movie (even though that might be cool too).
We are talking about some iconic TV series that scream for a big-screen adaptation, yet somehow haven't seen the light of day so far.
Let’s remember those old-but-good cartoons that could really rock the big screen if done right.
Johnny Bravo
Who can forget this self-proclaimed ladies' man with Elvis hair. While Johnny B made us cackle in our living rooms, transferring him to live-action would be even better. However, there is a chance of a live-action Johnny being either too dull or worse, a total creep.
But, with the right touch, focusing on his genuine heart and hilarious misadventures in love, it could be comedy gold. And who to play Johnny? Dwayne The Rock Johnson was actually set to portray the character before he became such a huge star.
In 2002, there were plans to make a Johnny Bravo with Dwayne Johnson in the leading role. However, the movie never ended up getting made, which is a bummer.
Daria
If you’re a 90s kid, chances are you remember Daria with her glasses and her "too cool for school" attitude. Many have dreamt of a live-action movie. Fans are convinced that Aubrey Plaza was born to play Daria.
CollegeHumor even made a trailer with Aubrey Plaza that only proves the point that she is a perfect fit for this role.
The storyline is pretty grounded — it's a simple, relatable, and a budget-friendly adaptation waiting to happen.
Freakazoid!
This show might have had a short run, but its legendary status speaks volumes. Given today's trend of self-aware superhero comedies, Freakazoid! is ripe for revival. It's basically a kid-friendly version of Deadpool.
The show is known for its fourth-wall breaks, randomness, and a side of quirky humor that’s too pure for this world. Plus, its roster of weird heroes could give other superhero teams a run for their money.
