20 Years Later, It's Time to Acknowledge Chamber of Secrets' True Heroes
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second installment of the Harry Potter franchise, was released in November 2002. Twenty years later, fans still can't get over how little recognition some of the movie's characters received.
Of course, the first names that come to mind when thinking about The Chamber of Secrets are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
It was Harry who, with the help of his friends, went into the Chamber of Secrets, killed the basilisk, destroyed the diary of Tom Riddle, and saved Ginny. But there are other minor characters without whom Harry would never even reach the Chamber of Secrets. Let's remember the true heroes of Harry Potter 2.
Phoenix Fawkes
Fawkes is Dumbledore's pet phoenix, who played a crucial role in the Chamber of Secrets. The bird arrived in the chamber with the Sorting Hat containing the Sword of Gryffindor when Harry needed him most. Besides, Fawkes blinded the basilisk, which gave Harry a fighting chance.

More than that, when Harry was wounded by the basilisk's fang, Fawkes shed his healing tears and cured the boy. Without Fawkes, things could take a much darker turn. Harry would probably reach the Chamber of Secrets, but it is very unlikely he would leave the room. With all its magic powers, ability to take rebirth, and loyalty to Dumbledore, Fawkes is a very intriguing character.
There is even a mind-blowing fan theory saying he could be Dumbledore's Horcrux which makes the character extremely underrated.
The Ford Anglia
The flying car is another character that gets too little recognition in The Chamber of Secrets. Though it is an inanimate Muggle object, all magic modifications by Arthur Weasley gave it a kind of personality and even temper.
The car was definitely loyal to the Weasley family. Even after it got smashed in the Whomping Willow, the car returned to save Ron and Harry when they were surrounded by the swarm of Acromantulas. Without this Deus ex Ford Anglia, Aragog and his family would definitely eat the friends.
Dobby
The house elf seems to be the least-likely candidate for the role of the true hero of The Chamber of Secrets, given how he was trying to make things difficult for Harry throughout the movie.
But some fans believe that Dobby actually saved Harry's life by making it harder. If the elf didn't seal the 9 3/4 barrier, Harry and Ron wouldn't have flown to Hogwarts in the Ford Anglia and the car wouldn't save them from giant spiders.
