Never underestimate the power of a good improvisation.

The line that no one expected usually lets the actors react to it realistically and makes the scene more grounded and believable. So kudos to those actors who in the heat of the moment come up with the lines that weren't in the script but fit perfectly in the story.

Improv is expected in sitcoms, and the majority of this list consists of them, but when it happens in a drama, it hits differently.

When the actor embodies the character, they are able to properly react to unexpected things, including their fellow actors' performances.

In a comedy setting, it helps create more laughs and elevates the scene's humorous aspect, but in drama it can lead to a completely different mood than it was planned, adding more depth to the characters.

Brian Cranston's performance in Breaking Bad is notorious for that: he was mostly known for his comedy roles before, but in a serious drama like that his ability to instantly react to the unscripted moments proved how good he is in his craft.

And thankfully, that didn't lead to him being typecast after the success of the show (unlike Giancarlo Esposito ).
