The classic plot about the ups and downs of a teenager's relationship has spawned two sequels (but the first one is, of course, the best).
Let's check out what are the actors up to today, 17 years after the release of the musical.
Zac's career seems to have taken the best turn. The role of the first boy of the school brought him an army of fans and a whole group of directors who offered him different scripts.
Since his triumph, Zac has appeared in more than 30 movies and does not plan to stop.
Although he has repeatedly vowed to end his career, in 2023 the actor is scheduled to shoot in several projects. The most memorable role of the actor in recent years was the movie with Lily Collins Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, where he played Ted Bundy.
Vanessa Hudgens
After showing the world her vocal prowess, the actress began working on two fronts: acting in movies and recording singles. Hudgens was successful in both, though not as successful as her partner Efron.
Hudgens is no longer involved in the music industry, but continues to act in movies. For example, in 2021, the two-Oscar-nominated movie Tick, Tick…Boom! was released, where she starred alongside Andrew Garfield.
Vanessa is active on social networks and recently tried her hand at business. Together with a friend, she started producing a drink made from cactus named CaliWater.
Ashley Tisdale
In 2011, a separate movie was made about the school's mean star after the success of High School Musical. But then the career of the actress began to decline.
Her latest work was the role in the series Merry Happy Whatever in 2019, but it did not have much success. Ashley has focused on music, and has recorded three albums.
Although stability is observed in Ashley's personal life. The actress has been in a relationship with the actor Christopher French for almost 10 years, and the couple has a daughter, Jupiter Iris.
Lucas Grabeel
Lucas' popularity faded as quickly as it had begun. After his triumph at Disney, Lucas starred in various projects, but none of them got successful.
In 2019, he starred in the TV series of the same name based on High School Musical, but this was his last role so far.
Lucas runs social networks and shares pictures with his family and girlfriend.
Corbin Bleu
Corbin is still acting, although most of the projects are low-budget. Since the release of High School Musical, Corbin, like most actors, has devoted himself to music: he even recorded two albums, but they did not bring much success.
Bleu is married to actress Sasha Clements, best known for her role as Emma in the series Life with Boys.
