Back in 2010, the actor suffered an injury during the filming of movie and according to his own words, he has never been the same.

Summary:

  • The actors doing their own stunts is a great selling point for the movie, but also a very controversial practice
  • Sylvester Stallone is among the unfortunate actors who have been permanently injured while doing stunts
  • More than a decade later, the actor still hasn't fully recovered and is warning others not to make the same mistake

Breathtaking stunts are just as, if not more, important to an action movie as compelling characters and great visuals to keep viewers glued to their seats during a visually impressive action sequence.

Although the development of CGI has allowed some of the most insane stunts that are virtually impossible to perform in reality to appear on our screens, the movies that stick to doing things the "natural" way often look even more stunning.

Of course, using real people instead of CGI puppets always involves certain risks, so it comes as no surprise that actors are usually replaced in such scenes by professional stuntmen who risk their health for a living.

Actors Doing Their Own Stunts is a Rather Controversial Practice

However, some actors are famous for doing most of their own stunts, such as Tom Cruise, which is a great selling point for the movie, but a controversial practice as a single injury can jeopardize the entire production process.

It can also lead to long-term health problems that haunt actors for the rest of their lives, something Sylvester Stallone learned firsthand, as he recently revealed on his family's reality show, The Family Stallone.

Back in 2010, the actor starred in The Expendables, where he portrayed Barney Ross, a mercenary team leader, and during a particular fight scene with Steve Austin, who is also a professional wrestler, Stallone was body-slammed by his co-star.

This event caused him to suffer a back injury that continues to plague the actor more than a decade later, as Stallone underwent his seventh back surgery during the course of episode 4 of season 2 of the reality show.

Stallone Never Recovered From the Injury

According to the actor's family, he is often in pain, although he prefers not to disclose the number of surgeries he has had.

This accident completely disillusioned the actor about doing his own stunts, as Stallone mentioned that while it seems "romantic" at first, the consequences are far from pleasant.

He also warns others of the dangers of being so reckless, as according to Stallone himself, he has never been the same since starring in the first installment of The Expendables franchise.

Do you think it is worth it for actors to risk getting injured doing stunts?
