13 Reasons Why: Where’s Clay Actor Now, 4 Years After the Show Ended?
You could see him in one of the most famous horror franchises.
13 Reasons Why was a unique project that has managed to lower the bar of quality with each season. Had it ended after the first season, as originally planned, it would have rightly been considered an excellent adaptation of the source material and one of the most daring stories about teenage frustration and school bullying.
But popularity played a cruel joke on the show – the creators were forced to stretch the finished story so far that by the final season, the show had become a self-parody.
Whatever 13 Reasons Why turned out to be, it will be remembered for its brilliant first season and its excellent cast, the main face of which was Dylan Minnette, who played Clay.
Dylan Minnette's Early Career
Dylan was one of the best-known actors in the project. Before starring in 13 Reasons Why, Minnette appeared in the thriller Don't Breathe, Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners and a dozen popular TV series.
It was on television that the actor began his career, appearing in Two and a Half Men and Lost.
Dylan Minnette's Projects After 13 Reasons Why
After finishing 13 Reasons Why, Dylan starred in a horror film called The Open House, which flopped miserably, earning a record-low score on Rotten Tomatoes – 7% from critics and 8% from viewers.
The Open House, which creators probably expected to get a theatrical release, went straight to Netflix – and for a good reason. It was criticized for a very simple story, which ended with an extremely disappointing finale.
Only four years later, the actor starred in his next project. It was the Hulu series The Dropout, starring Amanda Seyfried. The show told the story of the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes, a notorious swindler who convinced many investors that she had created some kind of "innovative" technology for diagnosing the body using a drop of blood.
Unfortunately, the businessmen never got the long-awaited innovation – the patent for the development turned out to be fake. Dylan played a rather important role as Tyler Shultz, one of the whistleblowers who exposed Holmes' deception.
Dylan's most recent work to date was 2022's Scream, the fifth installment of the famous franchise, in which he played Wes Hicks. The sequel also stars Jack Quaid (Hughie from The Boys ) and Jenna Ortega ( Wednesday ).
