We were unfairly robbed.

The nature of the TV show industry can be cruel at times. As much as we want to escape reality when we tune in to our favorite shows, even there we are faced with the fact that nothing lasts forever: even when it comes to beloved characters.

This happens all the time. They get killed in accidents, "move abroad for a better life," die of diseases, etc. And those are the lucky ones, because sometimes a character does not even get a proper goodbye.

Here are ten examples where the fandom was really disappointed after losing a character.

1. Nadia Stasky — Parks and Recreation

Nadia appears in season 6 of the show as a specialist in a Doctors Without Borders program and becomes Tom's girlfriend. There's nothing bad to say about her: she's cool, humorous, level-headed, and she really brought out the best in Tom. Everyone just fell in love with her. No wonder fans felt robbed of the character when she left for Rwanda because the actress, Tatiana Maslany, was offered a lead role in another show.

2. Faith Lehane — Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Season 3 of the series introduced fans to this new Slayer, Faith Lehane. Her character is very complicated, and her troubled past makes it hard for her to fit in with Buffy's gang. She eventually switches sides and ends up with the bad guys. The actress, Eliza Dushku, did such an amazing job portraying this multi-layered, bittersweet character that fans just didn't want her to leave the show.

3. Elena Felton — Killing Eve

It’s not a secret there’s only two main characters in the show, but Elena made a perfect third lead. Elena Felton was helping Eve in her investigation and she proved to be one of the best allies she ever had. She was smart and ambitious, and she definitely was one of the most fan-favorite characters of the first season.

4. Dave Rygalski — Gilmore Girls

Dave is certainly one of the most lovable characters ever to appear on Gilmore Girls. His quirky, yet so comforting personality is exactly what Lane Kim needed, so fans were really happy that they became a couple. Their relationship was very sweet so when Dave "moved to California" to go to college, fans were devastated.

5. Susan Ross — Scandal

Susan may be the most real and genuine character ever appeared on Scandal. She was introduced in season 4 and fans quickly grew to love her. Mostly because of her personality: she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and she wasn't your average nonsense politician. She really wanted to make a difference and it was hard to let go of such a fundamental character.

6. Janine Lecroix — Friends

The character who made Dick Clark's New Year's Eve and "The Routine" possible can at least be loved for that! But in fact, many fans believe that Janine left the show too soon. She was Joey's new roommate in season 6, and they soon started dating. Their couple was adorable and Joey really seemed to care about her. But the writers didn't even give them time to develop as a couple and had Janine stir up trouble between her boyfriend and his friends.

7. Karen Filippelli — The Office

Well, this may be a hot take, but we think Karen deserved better. She was introduced in season 3 of the show as Jim's co-worker in Stamford, then they started dating and she transferred with him to Scranton. However, this created an awkward love triangle between Karen, Jim and Pam, and Karen was forced out of the picture. But there's no doubt that Rashida Jones' comedic talents were a perfect fit for the show.

8. Dr. Sharon Fieldstone — Ted Lasso

There were many lovable characters in Ted Lasso, but fans feel that if this particular character had stayed a little longer, it would have served the show well. Dr. Sharon Fieldstone came on in season 2 as a sports psychologist and ended up helping a lot of people on the team, including Ted himself. The conversations they had were full of support and a genuine desire to help, and it was great to watch.

9. Simon Basset — Bridgerton

There are no words to describe the disappointment of the viewers when they found out that Regé-Jean Page would not be joining the cast of the series in season 2. As the main hottie of the premiere season, he definitely stole a lot of hearts and became the most popular character of all. Simon's development was raw and sincere, and fans wanted to see more of him, even though he would no longer be the lead.

10. Dr. Craig Thomas — Grey’s Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy Season 8 introduced Dr. Craig Thomas as Cristina Yang's mentor, a cardiothoracic surgeon. The dynamic between the two was very compelling as it was basically professional but with a touch of something familial. The story of Dr. Thomas is unfortunately sad, as he dies of a heart attack. This came as a shock to fans who weren't expecting anything like this to happen.
