10. Die Hard (1988–2013)

Yes, we might have woken up and chosen violence today, but Die Hard is not a Christmas franchise despite the popular misconception.

Still, these movies are great to binge-watch during the holidays as few things are just as Merry Christmas as watching John McClane take out a new group of terrorists in each installment.

9. The Godfather (1972–1990)

What’s the main color of Christmas? Red. What’s the color of Don Corleone’s enemies’ blood? Also red. We don’t think that’s a coincidence since The Godfather trilogy kicks in differently during the holidays; just make sure to leave the final movie until after Christmas. You don’t want to spoil the party with it, do you?

8. Indiana Jones ( 1981–2023)

The adventures of the world’s most famous archeologist are a great way to celebrate bravery before celebrating New Year. The Indiana Jones movies are just the right level of fun to binge-watch together with your loved ones — and the franchise just received the final installment in 2023 that you’ve likely missed in theaters.

7. Ghostbusters ( 1984–2021)

We know you’re hearing the same song in your head as we do after reading this title. Ghostbusters is the definition of light-hearted and wholesome fun, and while the quality of the movies varies greatly, they’re totally a great backdrop for your holiday business. But be wary: once you hear the main soundtrack, it stays for a week!

6. Jumanji (1995–2019)

Few things are quite as classic as Jumanji. Not only is its fantasy adventurous spirit fitting for the celebration but this franchise also provides great debate material. Were Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new movies a mistake or the great revival of the beloved original? Just toss the question in and let the familial Hunger Games begin!

5. Pirates of the Caribbean ( 2003–2017)

Kids love the Christmas holidays, and they also love pirates. Now, who if not Johnny Depp would be the perfect candidate to introduce them (and us!) to the new year? Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the best binges in general, but be wary: the last two movies don’t exist. They are a rouse. It’s better to stick with the original trilogy.

4. Star Wars ( 1977–2023)

Now, this one’s a real gold mine for binge-watching! With a few dozen installments, the Star Wars franchise is filled with content but, once again, the original trilogy is the only must-watch here. The Disney trilogy should be universally despised, but some of the latest TV shows deserve your time. Have you heard of The Mandalorian?..

3. The Chronicles of Narnia ( 1988–2010)

With two trilogies to choose from, this Christmas might be the perfect time for you to acknowledge that there was Narnia before Andrew Adamson’s 2005 The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Still, it’s the most beloved installment of the franchise, and it perfectly does its job of reinventing the holiday spirit — especially, for the kids!

2. Lord of the Rings & Hobbit (2001–2014)

Lord of the Rings is one of the most popular holiday binge-watches and for a good reason: this epic trilogy is close to every fantasy fan’s heart. The Hobbit trilogy, well, has its ups and downs but is ultimately up there, too. The only part of the general franchise we wouldn’t exactly recommend is the new Amazon TV show. Duh.

We sincerely doubt that any movie series is as often rewatched during the Christmas holidays as Harry Potter. The world’s most precious story about The Boy Who Lived works wonders at pumping that holiday spirit through the roof, and even the darkness of the final installments can’t take away from this beautiful experience.
