1 The Big Bang Theory Spinoff Ending This Spring, and 2 Still in Development

Whatever you think of The Big Bang Theory, its humor and all the characters, it’s impossible to deny all the impact that the show has made on modern television. Though there were many sitcoms to follow, little to none of them have a cult following to match The Big Bang Theory’s one. Also, not many sitcoms are capable of landing not one, but several spinoffs.

So far, there are 3 The Big Bang Theory spinoffs that we know of. One of them is already headed toward the end, while the other two are still in the beginning stages of development. Either way, here’s what every fan of the original show has to look forward to.

Young Sheldon (2017-2024)

One of the best decisions the production team ever made was to begin airing Young Sheldon while The Big Bang Theory was still on the air. It helped fans get used to the new format and ease them into the structure of a prequel.

Since then, Young Sheldon has become a phenomenon in its own right. There is a certain group of viewers, who are completely unaware of The Big Bang Theory and its plot, who watch Young Sheldon as a standalone family-based sitcom that perfectly mimics the life of an average family in the middle of Texas in the 90s.

The show has lasted for 7 seasons and will end this year on May 16th.

Mandy and Georgie Spinoff (2024-...)

Throughout Young Sheldon's run, many fans joked about getting a spinoff to follow Mandy and Georgie's love story. Even though The Big Bang Theory lore already established that their marriage wouldn't last, it was also established that Georgie would become a very successful businessman.

Considering how much viewers enjoyed the performance of Montana Jordan, who portrays Georgie in Young Sheldon, it was no surprise to see the news that the spinoff was greenlit at CBS. Montana Jordan will return to his role as well as his on-screen partner Emily Osment.

Although there is no specific premiere date yet, the show is slated to air during the 2024-2025 TV season.

Secret Max Spinoff (TBD)

The most mysterious of all is a spinoff requested by HBO's Max streaming service. It was first announced for 2023, but due to scheduling changes caused by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it was pushed back to 2025.

Right now, there are no specific details about the spinoff and its premise, so The Big Bang Theory fans are mostly in the dark about the whole ordeal. However, many are hoping that this spinoff will bring back someone other than Sheldon and his family.
