Newest picture of Zac Efron has sent his fans into a frenzy.

In the picture posted on Twitter on Monday the 35 year old High School Musical star was hard to recognize. He showed off an extremely beefed-up new physique as he stood with a towel around his waist while checking his smartphone. In the picture Efron also had a new bowl hairdo. The photograph was made in the Louisiana on the set of Efron's new movie, The Iron Claw, where Zac will play the role of wrestler Kevin Von Erich.

Based on a true story, the movie follows the life of the Von Erich wrestling family that made a huge contribution to the development of the sport in the second half of the 20th century, according to the studio. The film is directed by Canadian-born filmmaker Sean Durkin.

Now, what about the six-pack abs that Zac sported in the Twitter picture? While some fans clearly adore Zac's new beefy looks, redditors got down to what they have always been good at – a bit of witty trolling.

"Stupid sexy Flanders" was one of the first comments by the redditors as they were making reference to the Simpsons ' and a phrase Homer uttered when he was disturbed and pre-occupied by Ned's skin-tight ski outfit. For some Efron's looks reminded of teenagers mutant ninja turtles while one of the redditors said that "bro skipped leg day" in an apparent reference to Zac Efron 's skinny legs as opposed to the beefy torso.

It's not for the first time that the actor has gone to extreme lengths to become physically fit for a role. Back in 2018 Efron admitted to following a strict fitness regime as he was getting ready for the Baywatch shooting. He also admitted to taking Lasix water pills to get rid of water from his body to be able to boast his muscles.

"I started to develop insomnia, and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time," he told Men's Health in October.

However, this time The Greatest Beer Run Ever star has taken a totally different approach to getting into his heavyweight champion character Kevin Von Erich and it features "a new awareness of injury" in his post-Baywatch life.

The release date for The Iron Claw has not been announced.
