Your Bridgerton Favs Might Have Been Villains This Entire Time
The moral value of the show is definitely not its strongest quality.
There are more than enough talks surrounding Penelope and her decision to out Marina publicly, which led to ruining her in the eyes of patriarchal society.
However, both the Bridgerton show and the books had many more questionable storylines and decisions to discuss. They just don't stand out to the majority of fans for some reason.
For example, George Crane, who's arguably done Marina even dirtier than Penelope. However pure love they had, and whatever their plans were for the future, some fans argue that it was his fault they got into pre-marital relations.
Of course, at that point, neither was aware of his departure to the war, but it does not justify him in any way.
Some fans go as far as saying that he's more faulty in Marina's downfall than Penelope is since without him there would be no pregnancy at all, and her honor would not ever be questioned.
Another character that you might've never considered being questioned by the fanbase is Violet. And the reasoning is… her not telling her daughters about sex in a proper manner.
Surely, the topic is never comfortable for any parent to discuss with their child, but it seems like Daphne really struggled without her mother's support.
Being an older woman who's gone through it all, including childbirth, she should've done better and prepared her daughter for married life.
But it's not the only reason Violet does not seem like a good mother to some viewers. After she fell apart after her husband's death, she was not present at all for her eldest child Anthony.
Of course, he was the one to take over his father's duties, but many feel she should've been there for him as well.
Don't rush to feel sorry for Anthony, though, as he's not all that nice himself. Just remember how he called Kate "a thorn that can easily be removed," while speaking to Edwina.
This didn't sit right with some fans, but it wasn't the only instance of him treating his love interests inappropriately. Unfortunately, the man just wasn't the gentleman that he tried to look like at all.
"Anthony still had the audacity to pretend to be a gentleman but if a man behaved with one of his sisters as he did with Kate he would challenge him to a duel to protect her honor," Redditor said pointing out his double-faced morals.
As the filming for Bridgerton season 3 just ended, we might be close to the official release day announcement. Keep looking to find out which one of these characters may redeem themselves in the future.
