Young Sheldon’s Mary Gets Dethroned as Fandom’s Most Hated Character
The newest Cooper quickly takes the lead.
Summary:
- Created as a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon quickly captivated viewers and became the top family sitcom on television.
- Taking viewers back to the 90's, the show explored all the trials and tribulations of the average family in the middle of Texas.
- So far, Mary Cooper has been the most hated character on the show, but her new daughter-in-law seems to be quickly stealing the lead.
When Young Sheldon was first created, not many people believed in its success. Whether it was the show's huge departure from The Big Bang Theory's original premise, or the fact that people were starting to get tired of the show's repetitive writing, the idea seemed controversial among fans.
However, this situation has become the latest example of how a well-thought-out spin-off can end up being even more successful than its predecessor. From the lack of annoying laugh tracks to the overall improved quality of the production, Young Sheldon has managed to both win over TBBT fans and attract more viewers of its own.
Now, as Young Sheldon nears its end, it has a chance to do the impossible and ensure that all of the show's original characters get the redemption they deserve.
Why Is Young Sheldon’s Mandy So Annoying?
Throughout the past 6 seasons of Young Sheldon, there was no character who got more hate on the internet than Mary Cooper. The woman who had to raise three children on her own with little to no help from her alcoholic husband was being attacked by fans left, right and center on social media.
Some accused her of being a victim of religious propaganda, others thought she was a bad mother to anyone but Sheldon, and the rest just didn't like the way she treated George. Now, however, it feels like Mary has finally been given a chance at redemption before the grand finale, and we want to see it.
Many people already warmed to her character at the end of season 6, when she lost her job at the church because of her son's romance and devoted herself to Sheldon and his studies, giving up her own life to give him a chance. However, this season's tame version of Mary Cooper continues to win more and more hearts.
Or does she look tame in comparison to the newest addition to the Cooper family, Mandy?
While the changes in Mary are the most admirable, some viewers worry that Georgie and Mandy are becoming George and Mary 2.0. Shattered by the traumatic stories associated with their children, both Mary and Mandy have become rather unbearable over time. While George and Georgie were trying to provide for the family, Mary and Mandy were constantly nagging them.
The resemblance is truly uncanny.
Fortunately, Young Sheldon will soon come to an end. However, CBS has already promised to continue the story of Georgie and Mandy in a separate follow-up show.
The question is, who in their right mind would want to watch the Mandy show? Until the premiere, however, it will remain rhetorical.
