Young Sheldon Spinoff Can Solve Mary’s Problem, but There’s a Same Issue With a Different Character
The upcoming show still has a huge risk of losing its charm.
Young Sheldon ’s spinoff titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage may still be months away from hitting the screens across the world, but the series has already kicked its production off, and a recent update from the set suggests there still may be a major problem caused by a side character.
According to a big report dropped several days ago, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is bringing the Coopers back, with Meemaw and Missy showing up every so often and Mary possibly getting a much bigger role than she actually needs.
However, even Mary’s potential constant presence doesn’t seem to be that scary compared to what influence another character might have on the entire storyline.
The future spinoff’s production is in full swing, which Rachel Bay Jones has proved by posting a picture of herself on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s set.
In the show, Jones is set to reprise her role of Mandy’s mother Audrey McAllister whose complicated relationships with both her daughter and son-in-law will most likely become the spinoff’s core since Georgie and Mandy are supposed to live in the latter’s family house by the time the upcoming series will pick the story up.
Though Audrey’s way of handling the young family’s presence in her home is still intriguing enough to wait for it on the screen, the character’s love for keeping everything under her control may indeed cause a big problem for the entire plot line, potentially leading it in a very wrong direction.
Even if Georgie’s mother Mary will eventually opt for staying away from her son’s new family and thus letting the couple deal with their issues on their own, Audrey will be present in Mandy and Georgie’s living space anyway, leaving them less privacy for figuring out how their marriage actually works.
Considering that Mandy’s mother has never even disguised her dislike towards Georgie and once even neglected her own daughter finding out that she was pregnant, there’s no real chance for the spinoff to resolve all the issues that Mandy and Georgie will potentially have with the McAllisters’ matriarch.
Additionally, the trio now sharing the same living space seems to be a much bigger problem than Mary trying to coddle her grown-up son even when he’s far from the family house.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will arrive on CBS on October 17.
