Finally, we're out of the dark!

Summary:

  • Young Sheldon is a prequel to CBS hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
  • The show's plot is focused on the childhood life of Sheldon Cooper and the dynamics in his family.
  • Due to SAG-AFTRA’s most recent strike the premiere of season 7 was moved to February 2024.

When the SAG-AFTRA strike was still in its early stages in July 2023, many TV viewers were devastated to learn that many of their favorite shows wouldn't be coming back as soon as they wanted. In fact, the future of several productions seemed bleak as fans prayed for the strike to be resolved before the networks began canceling projects.

And even though CBS' Young Sheldon was never in danger of being canceled and was always scheduled to return in season 7, fans of the show were relieved to learn that the actors and producers had reached an agreement.

And now, in even better news, the network has released its winter schedule and announced the date when the fan-favorite sitcom will return with a premiere.

Get ready to mark the date on your calendars. Young Sheldon will hit our screens with the first episode of season 7 on February 15, 2024.

While that may seem like an eternity, considering the hiatus that everyone has had to live through with a sense of uncertainty, this three-month wait may only add to the anticipation and excitement of seeing the characters back.

The whole main cast of the show, including the Cooper family with Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Zoe Perry as Mary, Lance Barber as George Sr., Montana Jordan as George Jr., Raegan Revord as Missy, and Annie Potts as Meemaw, is set to return for Young Sheldon season 7 as well.

What's a little less exciting is that the season will have to consist of 15 episodes instead of the usual 22 that Young Sheldon offers. However, viewers hope that this season won't be the last, as the story has a lot more to offer, so the number of episodes will be well compensated with the following one.

Young Sheldon wasn't the only CBS show to get an official release date for next February. February 12 will mark the return of procedural fan favorites like NCIS and NCIS: Hawai'i and February 13 will be dedicated to the return of the FBI franchise. Right after the Young Sheldon premiere, you may want to stick around to watch the third season of Ghosts.
