Young Sheldon Season 6 Finale Continues Big Bang Theory Tradition
The date for the finale of Young Sheldon Season 6 is finally set. The show has been plagued by hiatuses throughout the current season.
And it will go on another one sometime in April, before releasing the concluding string of episodes, and airing the season's much-anticipated finale on Thursday, May 18.
Few plot details about the said finale are known at the moment. However, we already know that it is set to run longer than usual, clocking in at an hour instead of 30 minutes.
Which continues the tradition of The Big Bang Theory – TBBT's finale also ran for an hour, with two back-to-back 30-minute episodes.
On the night of Young Sheldon 's finale effectively two episodes will be aired as well, bringing the total number of episodes per season to the usual 22.
It is also not impossible that the finale of Season 6 will complete Young Sheldon as a whole. The Cooper family seems to be heading for the dramatic blow-up, which left marks that lasted into The Big Bang Theory.
While things have gotten better for Mandy and Georgie, with baby Constance's arrival, we know from TBBT that their relationship won't last – and at best Constance would remain in Mandy's sole custody (never mind another obvious possible reason why Constance neither appears nor is mentioned in TBBT).
Missy's current ark just demonstrated another big fault line, with her attempting to run away from home by driving away in George's truck and all that.
And George and Mary's marriage is already starting to crumble following a long set-up involving their potential affairs and their confrontation at the hospital.
Only the direction that the finale might take for Sheldon himself is difficult to guess, as his grant database project plot has just ended.
So it is clear that on May 18 – and in the few preceding episodes – we can expect to see a lot of drama. It remains to be seen how good the pay-off for all the build-up is going to be.
Certainly all fans of the franchise are hoping for CBS to deliver another great (if not remotely happy this time) ending.
