Fans won’t take this loss lightly.

Summary:

  • Young Sheldon is a prequel to another hit CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.
  • It focuses on the childhood of one of the protagonists of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper.
  • Although the show is supposed to take place in the same universe, the writers are not too faithful to the canonical events. Even to the extent of the character's death.

If there's one thing that the Young Sheldon fandom has been discussing for as long as the prequel has been on CBS, it's the death of George Cooper. In the original The Big Bang Theory, this event was treated as something inevitable, a tragic but fixed point in time that will never be changed.

As the show progressed, it became clear that the writers were willing to sacrifice the canon previously established in the show in order to make their stories fit the narrative. Pretty much all of Sheldon Cooper's past on The Big Bang Theory was defined by tragic events that traumatized him and shaped his social reactions.

Young Shelson, however, decided to take a different approach. If you could say that the show tried to explain Sheldon's origins in the first few seasons, the team later decided to lean further into the family sitcom genre.

But despite the great results, backed up by rave reviews, fans wouldn't let go of George Cooper and his fate.

Will George Cooper Die In Young Sheldon Season 7?

If we are talking about canon events, then yes, this should be the point where George Cooper unexpectedly dies. However, the creators of both shows have already explained how their opinion of George changed with Lance Bass' portrayal, so some viewers believe that George will not die in this universe at all.

Killing off the beloved character would certainly be a shocker that would leave viewers speechless if done right. However, if young Sheldon goes ahead with an original plan and chooses the beginning of the season to do it, he could kill off the entire fandom at the same time.

Every fandom has its own endless joke or topic of discussion that never gets old, and for Young Sheldon fans, George's death was one of those topics.

Now that it's closer than ever, viewers can't help but wonder what the fandom will talk about when these discussions are over. To find out for yourself, mark your calendars for February 14, 2024, so you don't miss Young Sheldon's return to CBS.
