Young Sheldon's number of plot holes grows with each passing episode, but these inconsistencies are particularly troubling.

The show's fans have come together on Reddit and discovered a few alarming plot holes regarding the Sparks family – more specifically, their chickens.

Brenda's Relationship with Chickens

First, Young Sheldon has established early on that Brenda Sparks, Billy's mom and George's almost-lover, is afraid of chickens.

In the season 1 episode, Jiu-Jitsu, Bubble Wrap, and Yoo-Hoo, Herschel Sparks, Brenda's soon-to-be ex-husband, says that he even built the chicken coop to get some solitude from Brenda.

Since about season 3, however, Brenda is fine with spending time among the chickens. She invites Mary to the coop for a drink, she has her secret meetings with George in there, and she feeds the chickens all by herself without a problem.

Has she gotten over her fear, or has she been lying about it all along to get out of chicken duty?

Fans theorize that Brenda had to start taking care of the chickens when Herschel left (someone had to). Another explanation might be that she was never scared of them – she just didn't want to do any of the work.

Young Sheldon has yet to give us a canonical fix for this plot hole.

Post-Divorce Chickens

The other inconsistency has to do with the existence of chickens after the divorce altogether.

In season 4, Brenda's hubby moves out and supposedly takes the chickens with him (as A Virus, Heartbreak and a World of Possibilities suggests). Yet, the chickens are present all throughout the rest of the show.

Have Brenda and Herschel split the chickens 50/50? Has she bought new ones since? Again, if she was afraid of them or had never wanted to take care of them, why would she do it? So many questions.

People seem to think that Brenda might have purchased more poultry just for Billy's sake. After all, he definitely loves chickens, and his mom is willing to do anything to keep Billy happy. That seems plausible enough.

Anyway, we might be seeing a resurgence of chicken-related plot holes in season 7 of Young Sheldon… if it ever comes out. Let's wait and see!
