It is practically a foregone conclusion that ending of Young Sheldon is not going to be very happy, and that it will feature the Cooper family falling apart in a traumatic fashion, thus pushing Sheldon towards the psychological state in which he started The Big Bang Theory.

Until now it seemed as if family problems of George Sr. – the long sequence of events gradually leading to his infidelity and to its presumable reveal, are going to be the main trigger of the family's implosion.

But spoilers for Season 6, Episode 16 indicate that another disaster is going to hit Coopers from a relatively unexpected direction.

According to them, Episode 16 is going to involve Missy Cooper stealing her dad's truck and hitting the road with her friend Paige.

To be fair, Missy has been a real brat from the start of the series, in stark contrast with how mature and nice her adult self was in The Big Bang Theory.

But most people did not really expect another one of Missy's tantrums to go quite so far.

But recently Missy felt herself abandoned, with Mary and George Sr. having to deal with George Jr's romance with Mandy ending in a surprise pregnancy, in addition to their own problems.

While Missy did not really have to deal with anything serious or life-altering, she felt forgotten, because nearly all of her family had their hands full and did not pay much attention to her.

Her attempts to talk with others were brushed off, because everyone, again, had their hands full.

So, in the common teenage fashion she decided to grab their attention by doing something that no one could ignore – meaning, something potentially catastrophic.

Given the tensions which now are gripping the family, she chose the moment for indulging in her teenage angst rather poorly.

It may well be that her decision to run away is going to be the trigger, causing a snowballing sequence of interwoven conflicts and revelations, which will soon tear the Cooper family to shreds. We don't have to wait long before seeing that.
