Young Sheldon's Iain Armitage (Almost) Got Arrested Next To Jane Fonda
Could’ve put an end to Young Sheldon seasons earlier.
It’s not that uncommon for Hollywood celebrities to get into the altercations that end up with police being involved. If you’ve been around during the early 2000s, you would know that almost every weekend the media was blowing up with headlines of yet another big name being arrested or tried in court.
What is uncommon, however, is for such a story to involve an 11-year-old boy and the reason for the possible arrest to be climate change activism.
According to Jane Fonda, who is known to the general audience not only for her brilliant acting performances but also for her strong views on various social issues, ranging from ecological problems to LGBTQA+ rights, one celebrity who stood up side to side with her against the police during the climate change protest was Young Sheldon ’s Iain Armitage.
Not only was the young talent not afraid of being caught up in the tricky situation with U.S. law enforcement, but he was disappointed about the fact he couldn’t get arrested. Fonda recalled it while speaking on BuzzFeed News' AM to DM:
“Young Iain Armitage, who’s the star of Young Sheldon, he’s 11 years old, he was so mad that he was too young to get arrested,” the actress said.
Although she was quick to point out she doesn’t necessarily see activism as fun, Jane Fonda spoke with praise about Armitage’s speech at the rally as well. He might’ve come to the protest with the witty energy of an 11-year-old, but this childlike attitude didn’t stop the actor from noting all the important things that the protest tried to highlight.
Whether Iain Armitage will continue making his path into acting after Young Sheldon is over, or will switch to learn more about the environment, we don’t know. Whatever he chooses, with a bright mind like his, we can be sure to see him as a leader in the future.
