Sheldon might be the most unreliable narrator ever.

Although fans of Young Sheldon were prepared for the show to take a turn and deviate from the canon established by The Big Bang Theory, there are some things that are too hard to explain. For example, the complete change in George's character, from an alleged abuser to an average family man.

Whether the creators had a clear explanation for this change when they started working on the prequel is unclear, but now they have everything they need to make this difference make sense. In fact, many fans believe that Young Sheldon’s George may not be an alcoholic at all.

From what we've seen George say or do throughout the show, he's far too far away from being addicted to any substance. This could mean the worst is yet to come for viewers, as the show is also approaching the point where his marriage to Mary should be the most troubled it has ever been, or it could mean that...he was never an addict at all.

Try to remember how we all learned that George was an alcoholic. Sheldon himself mentioned it in The Big Bang Theory. How would a child, who is not very good at reading people's emotions, get that idea? From his mother, of course.

It's no secret that Shelson has always been pampered by his mother, who even agreed to leave her own life behind to accompany him to Germany in order to give him a proper upbringing. While this move was very admirable, Mary was always in a position to influence her son's perception of some things in life, including his father.

Who do you think is a better parent?

Whether you think George doesn't deserve to be called an addict because he cracked open a couple of beers at night, or you agree that he has some problems but his alcoholism just keeps him functioning, you'll probably see this issue revisited in Young Sheldon season 7.

The series was confirmed to be renewed for one more season by CBS, but as of today, there is no information on the release date. Make sure to keep an eye out to not miss any important news and behind-the-scenes updates!
