Young Sheldon returned after a brief break and immediately scared everyone.

Warning: the following article contains spoilers for Young Sheldon season 6 episode 16

The new episode of the spin-off is actually more about Missy and her rebellious time. She stole her father's truck and left for a better future.

But then she quickly realized she needed company, so she recruited Paige to go on the trip with her. Together they were going to start a new life in Florida and live happily ever after.

But their plans were interrupted by... the police. After five hours on the road, the cops finally pulled them over, leaving two girls with no choice but to call their parents for help. So Mary, George and Linda went to rescue them.

And the most interesting thing actually happened on this rescue mission. As usual, George and Mary were poking at each other when Linda, aka self-proclaimed psychologist, decided to join the fray.

She told them about her marital problems and suggested a solution to avoid the divorce she couldn't escape.

Still, the Coopers were sure they did not need unsolicited help and claimed they would not end up divorced. And that's exactly the moment that hit the fans like lightning, right when this dialog happened:

Mary: We're not getting divorced.

George: Yeah, over my dead body!

Mary: Yeah, that's exactly how it's going to end.

Soooo… pretty dark, isn't it?

At any other time in any other movie, this might have gone unnoticed as some kind of normal dark joke. But not here and now.

Behind the Scenes TBBT Drama That Led to Cuoco Icing Parsons on Set

As we know from The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon actually told his friends (not once) that his father died of a heart attack when the boy was 14.

So does that mean the end is near? It looks like fans will have to see the heartbreaking scene in the Young Sheldon finale after all, whether they like it or not.
