Young Sheldon's Best Twist? Paige Actually Saving The Coopers From Divorce
It always took someone from the outside to make things work on the inside.
Young Sheldon is a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory that turned out to be more than just a story about the younger version of the main character of the parent show.
Not only did fans want to explore more of the Coopers family, but they also wanted them to wrap up some major, inescapable storylines that had their roots in The Big Bang Theory.
One of those storylines was George Cooper's cheating scandal, which would destroy the family's happiness and leave Sheldon and other members of the clan heartbroken.
But it looks like that's not going to happen after all, and we have someone else to thank for that. The thing is, George and Mary's marriage is actually quite sweet and loving.
Yes, they have had their problems, but they would never have ended the marriage, and one of the reasons is also that they have a rather strict Christian lifestyle that looks down on the idea of divorce.
But it was after learning of Paige's parents' separation that the Coopers vowed to never do the same thing.
Because it was the divorce that led to the troubling behavior Paige began to express as she struggled to process her feelings of anger, confusion, and even guilt.
The Coopers never wanted their children to ever feel the same way. Mostly they were worried about Missy, who actually witnessed Paige's rebellious phase.
And so their shared concern for their vulnerable young daughter eventually helps to hold their marriage together. They don't want Missy to turn out like Paige and do the same awful things.
In season 6, Missy steals her dad's truck and runs away from home. She even recruits Paige for her daring adventure, demonstrating her negative influence.
It was right then when the Coopers decided to try to patch things up and make their marriage even more stable. Let's see how well that works out in Young Sheldon...
Two final episodes of Young Sheldon will air on May 18.
