Young Sheldon Might Get S8, But Fans Are Not Happy About It
They would rather see the show end than flop.
In January 2022, after CBS officially gave the green light to renew Young Sheldon not only for season 6, but also for season 7, many fans were absolutely ecstatic. However, one question remained: when would the show end?
Unlike its predecessor, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon cannot go on forever and must be limited.
Many fans have already passed around jokes about the young Sheldon from the prequel gradually growing into the Sheldon we know and love from the original series, and then into the older Sheldon sequel.
As funny as that sounds, it's not that far from the truth.
As much as fans seem to enjoy Young Sheldon as a standalone spinoff of The Big Bang Theory and recognize its potential, they are still upset that the show has strayed too far from the canon.
The transition between the two shows was supposed to be seamless, but with each passing season, it becomes anything but.
With season 6 barely over and season 7 not even in production yet, people are already speculating about whether or not season 8 will follow.
The way the season 6 finale managed to get the most people glued to their screens, and the best ratings Young Sheldon has ever had, certainly says a lot about the show's potential.
Viewers, however, believe that this potential could easily be ruined by doing too much.
The sad truth is: Sheldon needs to grow up. Mary and George would probably have to face their divorce sooner rather than later, and George... well, whether he lives or dies as written in the canon, his arc within the Cooper family would also be over. Dragging the show past that point wouldn't do it any good at all.
Of course, there is a huge group of people who love both Missy and Georgie and want to see more of their future, but that shouldn't happen on a show called Young Sheldon, fans believe.
Both Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan are talented enough to make great leads in their own spinoff.
Either way, there is no official confirmation of Young Sheldon season 8 as of today.
