You Can Actually Access The Boys' Real-Life Parody of X (And It's Super Meta)
Yes, you can now actually follow Homelander.
We all know what The Boys is best at — poking fun at pop culture and real-life events. But did you know that they've actually taken a real-life shot at parodying X (formerly Twitter)?
V (instead of X) is not just a big parody in itself, but it's also packed with jokes inspired by the show and real-life events. You can discover tweets from the original characters, such as A-Train and The Deep, as well as from the Gen V characters.
Here's a fun piece of wisdom from The Deep for his followers: "You know, when we check out sea life, we're basically looking at life itself."
But there is one tweet that is especially hilarious, because it's actually based on a real-life tweet. In 2020, a certain Kira user (@kirawontmiss) posted something so wild that it got spoofed on the Vought social media app.
The tweet read, “Imagine if men had to breastfeed babies using their...” For ethical reasons, it’s best not to continue the quote. But you get the idea of how unsettling the tweet was. And guess what? The Boys' V went ahead and poked fun at it.
On V, you can find a user named kari (@karimisses). The username change is just the start of the hilarity. They've actually cooked up a parody of that tweet we talked about earlier:
“What if men had to take Compound V using an enema,” reads the tweet on V.
If you want to look through The Boys’ version of Twitter, you can actually do it. This V social media is a result of collaboration between the series and the browser Opera GX. So, V is available exclusively in Opera GX.
If you're curious about The Boys' take on Twitter, you can actually check it out. The social media platform was unveiled by Amazon, in partnership with Vought International and Opera GX.
To access V, you’ll need to download the latest version of Opera GX. Once you've got it installed, head over to the Sidebar setup and pick V from the Messengers category. Voila, V will appear in your sidebar.
V was launched on October 3rd, and it's sticking around for a limited time, timed with the release of The Boys spinoff series, Gen V.
