The Dutton clan in Yellowstone constantly has to face outside threats, from those seeking to take control of the Yellowstone ranch's land, to rivals threatening political careers of its members.

However, much of the trouble and drama, with which they have to deal, comes from the inside. There are, to put it mildly, different opinions within the clan regarding who is best qualified to control the ranch and the rest of the family's fortune.

Over the seasons we have seen enough squabbling, double-dealing, and backstabbing between them to rival Game of Thrones. For now John (Kevin Costner ), the patriarch of the family, still firmly rules, and his daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly), looks well-positioned to inherit the ranch.

However, as the series is driving towards its conclusion, some of the fans argue that Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), John's adopted son, and an aspiring politician, is going to win everything in the end.

Much of the drama in the series is caused by his mutually hateful relationship with Beth. As that relationship keeps deteriorating throughout the seasons, and the rest of the family generally sides with Beth, he's clearly losing the loyalty he once had to them.

Given that Jamie is a highly educated and competent lawyer, to whom the rest of the family goes pretty much whenever they need to be bailed out of a legal pinch, he has plenty of ammo to attack them, if he ever decides to.

At the very least, he knows all of their secrets, and furthermore, being as good with the law as he is, he might be aware of legal loopholes which other Duttons are missing.

As one user said in a fairly popular thread on /r/YellowstonePN/:

"I told my wife a long time back that Jamie will end up with everything in the end. She argues and says it isn't true, but it's easy to see, if you look at how they keep piling it onto him every season… …They never treated him right and it will be their biggest downfall in the end."

Well, at the very least, given the current direction of the plot, Jamie is certainly poised to become the most dangerous opponent the Dutton clan ever faced.
