Yellowstone Put This Dutton Character Through Hell and Back, Yet She's Still Alive
It's like she has nine lives!
Yellowstone has a whole bunch of strong characters, whose lives are full of intrigues and adventures. Sometimes they are beyond dangerous and bring the characters almost too close to death.
But one member of the Dutton family has danced with death so many times it's hard to count. Monica Dutton, portrayed by Kelsey Asbille, nearly died several times during the show's five seasons, but every time her guardian angel Taylor Sheridan saved her.
Considering the fact that Yellowstone is not afraid to kill off its major characters, it's quite surprising that Monica made it till the end (at least for now).
In season 1 Monica suffers a serious head injury after interfering into a fight between two school boys. She decides to go home and rest, but she suddenly faints and has to be rushed to the hospital. It's only there that she learns she's suffered an epidural hematoma.
However, she underwent surgery and physical therapy to begin the healing process. And she did recover. Little did she know that it would be the first of her many near-death experiences.
The writers gave her some time to live a normal life, but they probably thought that was enough, so they decided to put her life in danger again in season 4. The show followed a storyline where she and Tate were attacked while at home. The masked intruder broke in and was one second away from killing Monica, but Tate saved her life by killing the attacker first.
They both were deeply traumatized after the event, but still thankful to be alive. In the next season, however, Monica's life is in danger again.
In this season, she is pregnant, and one day, while Kayce was away, she had some bad contractions, so she decided to drive to the hospital herself, taking Tate with her. She was driving really fast and it was an absolutely dark road, so she accidentally veered into the lane of an oncoming truck, swerved to avoid it, and crashed into a buffalo that appeared from nowhere in the middle of the road.
While Monica survives the car accident, her unborn son does not... The show's creator Taylor Sheridan has really put her through hell, so we just hope that this will come to an end in season 5 part 2.
