The Writer’s strike is still ongoing, and Taylor Sheridan’s latest new-Western series fall victim to it as the second and final season gets caught up in an indefinite halt.

Even considering Yellowstone ’s massive success, it was still rather unpredictable and impressive how quickly the original series creator, Taylor Sheridan, managed to branch it out to create an entire Yellowstone Universe with spin-offs, prequels, and more cowboys on a cubic meter than the audience knew it needed.

As of now, apart from the original Yellowstone show itself, there are two prequels that are already released — 1883 and 1923 — and, reportedly, six (!) projects that are currently in different production stages, including a few more prequels revealing the Dutton family history and a couple of spin-offs parallel Yellowstone’s events.

Reportedly, one of the spin-offs will feature none other than Matthew McCoughnaghy, and this really goes to show the sheer scale of the Yellowstone Universe… After all, the currently undergoing prequel 1923 has Harrison Ford as its lead actor, and making this legendary actor interested in a role takes some hassle.

But it seems like Harrison Ford will have quite some time for his other projects now since the news about the second and final season of 1923 was just released.

Even Taylor Sheridan in all his genius can’t possibly do anything about the ongoing Writer’s Guild of America’s strike that has a solid half of the movie industry paralyzed. The protest has been going on for over a month and a half now since May 2, and it finally got to Yellowstone, too, halting the production of 1923’s final season.

Despite the pre-production having started a year ago, the strike saw Sheridan completely lose control over the course of the new season’s development: admittedly, there are still ways to go until the script is finalized, and the Writer’s Guild prevents such naughty things like changing current script versions from happening.

At the same time, the original Yellowstone’s also stuck in the middle of its final season thanks to Kevin Costner ’s rebellion and the consequent sudden change of plans that inquires that the show ends with season 5. Considering that it requires the script to be redone, we’re thinking that the WGA’s strike got to Yellowstone, too.
