Yellowstone Fans Go Crazy Over Theory Jamie Could Actually be a Biological Dutton
There are numerous wild fan theories that float around regarding Yellowstone and it seems everyone has a take on how the popular television show should end.
Nonetheless, one particular theory that was recently posted on Reddit may, indeed, be the craziest of them all.
According to /EdselandIris_Inc, Jamie Dutton is not adopted but a biological Dutton. If true, the Reddit theory counters what is known about the character since it's presented in season four that he was born to another family.
The notion expands that Jamie actually has lineage with the Dutton clan. It explains why the character's mother, Phyllis, derives from Spencer Dutton's line of the family heritage.
In an earlier season of Yellowstone , there is a grave marked with Michael Dutton which may indicate that he's the dad of Phyllis. Thus, the Redditor asserts that Jamie received his middle name – Michael – in honor of the late grandfather.
Furthermore, the Redditor explains that Garrett Randall (who is referenced as the biological dad of Wes Bentley's character in the show) actually knows the truth. He repeatedly insists throughout the series that Jamie's birthright was stolen from the family. Thus, Jamie was not adopted but actually claimed Dutton blood all along. "This is the reason his name is James Michael (Randall) Dutton," the Redditor summarized.
Yellowstone Star Got a Life-Changing Advice From Kevin Costner
Of course, the assertion is a little bit of a stretch considering that it is well-known in the TV franchise that Jamie is adopted. Garrett Randall, his real father, portrays the primary antagonist in the fourth season and uttered those words because he was resentful of the wealth of the family. He certainly possesses motivations for tricking Jamie into believing he's something he's not.
Nevertheless, if the assumption is correct, then the revelation might totally disrupt the rest of the Duttons. It might just explain who takes over the ranch once John Dutton passes away. For this reason, it would present Jamie with a claim to the land as much as any other character.
"[Jamie] is playing all sides to secure the land," the Redditor remarked and expanded to suggest he'll also set up Sarah Atwood for attempting to sabotage John and Beth.
Unfortunately, the crazy theory hasn't caught on with everyone. In fact, many on the Reddit thread are fast to argue with assertions that Jamie is a true Dutton. The main argument is that this seems unorthodox for the series creator – Taylor Sheridan, who has insisted he already knows how Yellowstone will end. There are many fans that have asserted Sheridan is no longer invested in the show as much compared to its current and upcoming spin-offs.

Still, it would certainly be an interesting way to conclude Yellowstone. Right now, nobody is exactly sure who will end up with the land as new episodes are not slated to return until the summer of 2023.
