Worst Male Love Interest on Grey's Anatomy Fans Still Can't Get Over
Grey's Anatomy is known not only for all things medicine but also for its countless romantic entanglements.
And since it has been running for nearly two decades, it comes as no surprise that the main characters have had many love interests throughout the seasons. Some of them were adored by the audience, while others not so much. And there's one character fans think is the worst male love interest on the entire show, dubbing him the "epitome of fragile masculinity."
When it comes to romance, the hit medical drama's lead characters have made plenty of questionable choices, with some being worse than others. However, when it comes to male love interests, fans have singled out Eli Lloyd. Eli, who's portrayed by Daniel Sunjata, is a respected nurse at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, and you may remember him thanks to his brief fling with Miranda Bailey.
So, what is it exactly that bothers fans?
Well, there are a few things apparently – the first being his over-sexuality in the workplace. Although there are other characters that have also shared steamy moments at the hospital, Bailey didn't want to be the type of doctor who does this at work.
However, Eli didn't care and kept doing it anyway. From leaving dirty notes in a patient chart and flirting with Bailey at work to pressuring her to have sex with him at the hospital, the man was relentless.
Secondly, viewers find Eli arrogant and annoying, especially when it comes to following orders. There were instances where he undermined Bailey and other superiors, refused to follow orders and the doctor/nurse protocol based on his personal judgment of the situation and spoke up when it wasn't his place to do so.
His intentions may have been good, but certain rules and lines of authority are there for a reason. And even though there was an occasion in which he ended up being right, he didn't have permission to make the decisions he made nevertheless. If it was anyone else, Bailey would have suspended them a long time ago, without a doubt.
Love is Dead, and April & Jackson's Relationship on Grey's Anatomy Proves It
Though Eli was merely a side character that didn't last very long on the show, he certainly left an impression for all the wrong reasons. Despite him having some good professional and personal storylines, many fans just can't seem to get over how much they dislike him to this day.
